10 BB All-Stars are Konkowski Tournament Champs!!!!
by posted 07/28/2014

The Nanuet Little League 10 year old boys won yesterday, beating South Orangetown 5-4 to win the Chris Konkowski Tournament in Ramapo.  Pitching, Defense and timely hitting was the recipe for success in this victory.

Kyle Tully started on the mound for the 10's and Phil Kurisko took the mound in the 2nd and went to the sixth.  They held a potent SOLL team to only two hits!  Amazing job done by these two!

Down 4-2 in the 4th, bases loaded and only one out, Tyler Conjura made the play of the tournament!  A towering shot to right field, Tyler caught the ball cleanly and fired to our catcher, AJ Ierace.  AJ handled the ball and slapped a tag on the runner who tagged up.  This double play killed the SOLL rally and shifted the momentum back in Nanuet’s favor.  Ray McCune was like a cat at the hot corner, not letting anything by him making several put outs.  Joey Barros made a beautiful catch at first base holding runners on.  AJ Fitzmaurice made a key play at second base in the second inning ending a bases loaded threat.

Throughout this tournament, the 10's got offensive contributions up and down the lineup.  This game was no exception.  Phil Kurisko had a single.  Kyle Tully had a single.  Sebastian Cabral had a single and run scored.  Connor O'Brien hit a double, had an rbi and a run scored.  RJ Johnson worked a walk and scored the game tying run.  Aidan McCauley had a single, rbi and run scored.  AJ Ierace had a single and (game winning) run scored.  Ray McCune hit a single.  Joey Barros had the game winning rbi single.  Tyler Conjura hit a single.  The boys worked tirelessly on their hitting and their hard work paid off. Their approach at the plate kept opposing defenses on their toes and never relented.

The Nanuet Little League community should be very proud of this group of boys.  In victory, and defeat, they played the game right.  They held their heads high.  They represented our league and our town with dignity.  They held no excuses, and gave everything they had.  They respected their opponents and themselves and showed many along the way what sportsmanship means.

I would like to thank coaches Joe Barros, Joe Ierace and Steve McCune for their time and efforts working with the boys.  Thank you to Lisa Fitzmaurice for keeping our book and getting our updates out to the NLL community.  Thank you to the parents for sacrificing a portion of their summer, and fans that came out to support this group throughout the all-star campaign.

If you see any of these boys around town, feel free to let them know they made you proud:

Phil Kurisko, Kyle Tully, Sebastian Cabral, Connor O'Brien, RJ Johnson, Aidan McCauley, AJ Ierace, Ray McCune, Joey Barros, AJ Fitzmaurice, Tyler Conjura, Nick Lanoce, Andrew Knapp.

Regards,

Terrance McCauley

Our 12 year old boys lost a tough battle tonight in their second game of the Arc tournament to Stony Point 7-5.

Sean Dertinger and Kevin Diercksen did a great job on the mound holding Stony Point's big bats in check.

Joey Merritt was a wall behind the plate. Helping to turn a 5-3-2 double play with Jesse Falzone and Joey Mohsen.

our boys showed off big bats of their own. Daniel Scanlon and Trey Cruz each hit home runs. Mikey Frieri hit another double up against the fence and scored a run. Jesse Falzone had a clutch rbi. Adrian Rodriguez and Jacob Becourney each scored runs.

The boys play again in a crucial game against their arch nemesis Nyack Valley Cottage on Monday night.

10 boys advance to championship game tomorrow!!!
by posted 07/26/2014

The 10 yo boys baseball all stars beat West Nyack 8-3 today in Ramapo.  this semi final victory has the boys advancing to the championship game against South Orangetown tomorrow at 10am at Rella field 1 at Ramapo.

On his 11th birthday, Sebastian Cabral gave a dominating performance striking out 8 and giving up only 3 runs in 5 and 1/3 inning.  Phillip Kurisko took the mound to close it out.  the story in this tournament for the Nanuet 10's continues to be their bats.  today was no different.  the 10's pounded three WNLL pitchers for 13 hits.  Phil Kurisko had 2 singles and a double for two RBIs.  Kyle Tully had a single for an RBI.  RJ Johnson went 3-3 with three singles.  Tyler Conjura had a double for an rbi.  Aidan McCauley had 2 singles and 2 rbi's.  Connor O'Brien had a single for an RBI.  Ray McCune also hit a single for an rbi.  their aggressiveness at the plate is paying huge dividends and there are no easy outs on this team!

on the defensive side of things, Kyle Tully made a nice catch in right field.  AJ Fitzmaurice handled a hard hit ball at second to record a big out in the 5th.  but the defensive highlight was catcher AJ Ierace snap throwing to first baseman Joey Barros who held the tag long enough to get the runner.  heads up  baseball, executed perfectly.

come cheer on the 10's as they try to close out the tournament with a victory.  NANUET....MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

The Nanuet Little League 10yo baseball all stars won tonight 8-5 against haverstraw, and will advance to the semi finals of the Ramapo tournament. The mantra for this team is "make it happen".  That is exactly what they did Thursday night.  Getting contributions from each boy, the team effort paid off in the victory.  Sebastian Cabral and Andrew Knapp were efficient on the mound working 5 and 2/3 innings with 85 pitches combined.  Strong defensive plays by Ray McCune, Aidan McCauley, Connor O'Brien, RJ Johnson, AJ Fitzmaurice, and Tyler Conjura helped our pitchers relax and go to work.  The offense continues to thrive for the 10's.  Kyle Tully had a single and a double( two rbis)  Phil Kurisko hit a towering shot for a triple, and an rbi. AJ Ierace had a key single for two rbis.   Connor o'Brien, AJ Fitzmaurice, and Joey Barros each hit the ball hard for singles.  Come watch the boys "make it happen" Saturday morning at 11am in Ramapo, as they take on their nemesis, WNLL.

The Nanuet 9YO All Star Kayser/Brady tournament run came to an end yesterday. We were eliminated with a loss to a very good Havastraw team. With the elimination comes an end to a pretty good All Star Season for the 9YO that was highlighted with a trip to the semi finals of the WNLL tournament. I would like to thank all the coaches on and off the field and the parents for their support during the All Star season. It was a treat for me to watch these boys come together and grow as a team as the games went on and I was especially proud of how many times they kept fighting back to complete some fantastic wins. Everyone of you should hold your head high, you had a great All Star Season.
